There’s No Such Thing as a “Typical Day”

If there’s one thing our leaders agree on, it’s that no two days are ever the same. Their calendars might include meetings, budgets, data reviews, interviews, classroom visits, and state-level collaboration—all in a single week (or even a single day). Superintendent Steve Unowsky described it best: “You never know what a day will be like… it can be a fun adventure.”

This variety isn’t just a challenge—it’s a source of energy and excitement. 我们的领导者在动态的环境中茁壮成长,他们可以适应不断变化的需求,并专注于实时解决问题。 Whether they’re facilitating professional development, supporting student services or working across departments, they’re constantly learning and growing alongside our schools.

“There is no ‘typical day’ for me,” shared Mary Clarkson, Executive Director of 学生支援服务. “On any given day, I could be working on federal budgets and staffing, professional development, interviewing new staff, attending various district or state meetings, and supporting families and buildings with issues that arise.”

Jonathan Heyer, Director of Extended Learning, added: “You might be surprised to know that 里奇菲尔德公立学校 collaborates with a number of outside partners to provide students with opportunities they might not otherwise be able to access. The special sauce it takes to run these partnerships is something I get to help create in my role.”

Kasya Willhite, Director of Multilingual Learning and RCEP, shared, “I want to give a shout-out of gratitude and respect to my colleagues. They have seen me on my good and bad days and motivate me to be better and to do better each year for students and families.”

Christina Haddad Gonzalez, Director of 学生支援服务, highlighted one of the best parts of her day: “I get to talk to students almost every day. They are a marvel.”

That commitment extends beyond job responsibilities—leaders described their coworkers not just as teammates but as fellow humans navigating life’s ups and downs. 这些关系激发了他们的激情,让他们坚持自己的目标。

“Richfield is a community that supports its schools and values diversity,” said Mary Clarkson. That sentiment was echoed by Jennifer Krueger, who said, “RPS is committed to developing inclusive opportunities for students.”

For Jonathan Heyer, what makes Richfield stand out is “our diverse and vibrant community and the strong sense of collaboration among staff. It’s a place where innovation is encouraged, relationships matter, and decisions are centered on what’s best for students.”

“I love supporting teachers,” said Rachel Gens, Director of Elementary Education, simply and powerfully.

Christina Haddad Gonzalez shared, “I love partnering with families, students and staff to support their wellness, engagement and growth.”
