Nancy Stachel, Sheridan Hills小学

While our principals have plenty of tasks each day, there’s always something unexpected that pops up. “My job is surprising every day,” shared Principal Mahoney. “Every morning I look at my calendar and plan my day, but something else always comes up. Every day is a new adventure!”

Dr. Willhite echoes that statement, saying, “Truthfully, I have no idea what will happen each day.” Principal Woods agreed, saying, “There is no such thing as a typical day because no day is ever the same.” Principal Arnold shared, “Sometimes what I think I am going to achieve for the day gets interrupted as I'm responding to building needs, and that's okay! I see my job as being a leader of leaders and building capacity in my team is something I really love doing.”

For Principal Stachel, her day starts when she first wakes up and starts thinking about the day’s staffing and substitutes. “Once I arrive at school and check in with staff, my day starts off greeting the students who ride a bus,” she said. “Each day looks a little different. 它可以包括在教室里观察,在餐厅监督,帮助学生做出更好的行为选择,与家长或社区成员会面,与老师会面,或确保员工拥有所需的资源。 It typically finishes with parent pick-up and then any final staff or district meetings.”
